Big Sur Chipping Program

The Big Sur Chipping Program helps homeowners and neighborhoods reduce hazardous vegetation by offering free chipping services. The Big Sur Chipping Program is funded by a CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grant award of $1,165,250, providing ~100 chipping days per year for a period of four years.

Program Funding & Partners

Fire Adapted Big Sur is primarily funded by a CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grant award of $554,977, which supports program operational expenses through 2024–2028.

FABS is co-aligned with the response zones of Big Sur Fire and Mid-Coast Fire Brigade, serving communities along the Big Sur coast in Monterey County from Highway 1 Post Mile Marker 70 to the San Luis Obispo County line.

Fire Adapted Big Sur and the Community Association of Big Sur thank CAL FIRE for funding both the Fire Adapted Big Sur program and the Big Sur Chipping Program.
