Living in Big Sur comes with unique challenges—especially around governance and representation. With no town council and a few official multi-agency meetings per year, there’s a gap between community and the policies affecting daily life.

CABS fills that gap. We hold a seat at the table with agencies and officials at every level ensuring Big Sur is represented, heard, and supported. We host public meetings, aid in bureaucratic navigation and communicate critical updates with urgency through our real-time email alerts.

Advocacy In Action

CABS advocates for policies and solutions that preserve Big Sur’s unique environment while improving quality of life for the people who live and visit here.

Community Housing

With many homes lost to wildfires, limited development on our protected coast, and fewer long-term rentals available, Big Sur’s local community, including families, artists, restaurant staff, teachers, firefighters, and healthcare providers, faces an ongoing housing challenge.

CABS has been tackling this issue for over 15 years, partnering with landowners, nonprofits, and public agencies to pursue creative, community-driven housing solutions.
