The Coastal Zone Vacation Rental Ordinance will be on the agenda for the Monterey County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, January 6 (Item #15, will be discussed after 1:30PM).
You may be wondering: Didn’t this already pass the Coastal Commission?
Yes, that is correct. However, due to a current lawsuit challenging two provisions of the County’s vacation rental and homestay ordinances (Monterey County Vacation Rental Alliance v. County of Monterey, Monterey County Superior Court Case No. 24CV004922), the County has temporarily suspended enforcement of those two provisions while the court completes its review.
As a result, the Board of Supervisors will be holding a workshop at the January 6 meeting to discuss the situation and determine next steps.
